Colony Growth: A strong and healthy queen bee is essential for maintaining colony growth. With a prolific queen at the helm, worker bees are more likely to expand the hive, increase brood production, and ultimately boost honey yields or the ability to make bee nucs for sale.

Swarm Prevention: One of the primary responsibilities of the queen bee is to regulate the hive's population and prevent swarming. By replacing an aging or failing queen with a vigorous new queen, beekeepers can mitigate the risk of swarming and ensure the stability of their colonies.

How to Use Queen Bees For Sale?

Introducing a new queen bee for sale into an existing hive requires careful planning and execution to ensure a successful integration. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use queen bees effectively:

Preparation: Before introducing the new queen, it's essential to prepare the hive by removing the existing queen (if applicable) and assessing the overall health of the colony. We remove the queen bee and call this day 0 as it helps to track the time frame for successful introduction.

Destruction: After 8 days (day 8) go into the colony and remove all of the emergency cells the bees have created to try and requeen themselves naturally. Do not miss any cell. A single cell that has been missed can cause the new queen to be rejected.

Isolation: To prevent rejection or aggression from the resident bees, the new queen should be isolated in a queen cage for a period of time. This allows the worker bees to become accustomed to her pheromones without direct contact. Our queen bees for sale arrive in a cage with fondant that can be used for introduction.

Introduction: After a few days of isolation, the queen can be introduced into the hive by placing the queen cage between the frames. It's crucial to monitor the hive closely during this time to ensure that the queen is accepted by the colony. We place the queen into the colony in between two frames of brood on day 8, just after removing the emergency queen cells.

Release: After 24 hrs, we return to the hive and remove the fondant tab to give the worker bees access to the queen. First they must burrow through the fondant which can take 24-48 hrs. This ensures a slow introduction which is vital for the success of requeening a colony.

Monitoring: Once the queen has been released from the cage and accepted by the colony, it's important to monitor her performance closely. Regular inspections will help identify any issues early on and ensure the long-term success of the hive.

After 2-3 weeks the queen will start laying eggs in the centre of the frames
